The feeding ports are precision-designed so that only a hummingbird's long tongue can reach the nectar. Bees and wasps physically can't insert their shorter mouthparts far enough to feed. No mesh guards, no maintenance, no chemicals.
The double ant moat. Two independent water reservoirs sit between the hanging point and the feeder body — ants can't swim across either one. Even if one moat evaporates in hot weather, the second one keeps guard.

Just white cane sugar and water — 1 part sugar to 4 parts water, boiled and cooled. No red dye, no store-bought "hummingbird food" — they're unnecessary and can be harmful to the birds. The feeder's red color is enough to attract them.

Yes — the polycarbonate body is UV- and cold-rated. However, if you have freezing temperatures, we recommend bringing the feeder indoors overnight to prevent the nectar from expanding and cracking the internal walls.
In a partially shaded spot, ideally near flowering plants or shrubs. Avoid direct all-day sun (spoils nectar faster) and open windy areas (spills). 4-6 feet off the ground is ideal for hummingbirds and out of cat reach.
Depends on your region. If hummingbirds are already active nearby, expect visits within 1-3 days. In new setups or off-season, it can take up to 2 weeks. Hanging near existing flowers helps them notice it.
